The second feature interview is with Arnaud Faugas, an artist and native Bordelais

whose whimsical illustrations and watercolors of the Bordeaux wine world has made him famous in the region and even further afield such as the US.

Recent showings of his work can be found in Bordeaux's CIVB wine bureau offices and wine tasting room and also at an art gallery in Washington D.C.

AOC Crémant Bourgogne brut blanc Marsigny   €5.40   - lovely and fruity 

AOC Crémant d'Alsace brut Henri Peter  - balanced  €5.59  

AOC Pacherenc de Vic Bilh Douw - Selection de Vieux Pays 2015  - €9.50

(Note: If you're a newbie to Pacherenc AOC but love sweet wines, this is a real jewel of a find. Candied fruit, lemon hints, peach confiture).

AOC Gaillac Doux Blanc Château Les Méritz 2014 - €6.95

(This is a blend of Muscadelle 20%, Mauzac 20% and Loin de l'oeil 60%. Ample and rich. )

AOC Médoc Rouge Les Chevaux de Patache d'Aux 2012 - €6.50 

(Surprising for a Bordeaux, you can drink this young as in now. Soft, supple and fruity. Cabernet Sauvignon 60%, Merlot 30%, Cab Franc 7%, Petit Verdot 3%.)

AOC Montagny Blanc 2014  -   €6.95

(This Burgundy white has a brilliant hue whose nose offers exotic fruits with hints of citrus and floral. Nice round structure to accompany your meals.)

AOC Saumur Rouge Puy Notre Dame Chateau d'Eternes 2012  - €28 for case of 6

(100% Cab Franc in keeping with its geographical profile of the Loire Valley. Black and deep red fruits with a delicate hint of spice. Perfect pairing for heartier Autumn meals. )

AOC Côtes du Rhône Villages - Laudun blanc Le Sauvage   €4.95

(Most people think of deep, rich reds when you say Côtes du Rhône. But with this white you're in for a pleasant surprise. White flowers and citrus on the nose give way to a delicate and long finish in mouth, hints of pear. )

Cap Ferret - Sand Dunes, Oyster Beds and The Untamed Atlantic Ocean

Far from the snooty reputation it has garnered in the past decade, since celebrities like Marion Cotillard and Philippe Starck have snapped up houses in this sequestered and chic enclave on the French Atlantic Coast, Cap Ferret is natural, rugged and oozing with a shabby chic unpretentiousness.

If you're packing for a weekend, week or month-long getaway, don't bother with more than a pair of flip-flops, your boyfriend's old board shorts and a beach umbrella.  And of course, a swimsuit.

One more great thing about Cap Ferret - the oysters harvested right out of the oyster beds out in front of the any of the little water-front oyster shacks are good all year round. Fresh and served with crusty bread, some French paté, quartered lemons and a chilled bottle of Bordeaux white. It's heaven on Earth.

The Côte du Rhône's Cabaret Burlesque Wine Tasting

Côte du Rhône Wine Tasting in Paris on La Nouvelle Seine

The French wine region that is home to Châteauneuf du Pape really knows how to host a wine tasting in Paris. Chosen for this range of 22 wines was the charming and exceedingly festive La Nouvelle Seine.

La Nouvelle Seine is a very large boat/barge ("peniche" in French) parked just in front of the Cathédrale Notre Dame de Paris. It's large enough in fact to be able to host 80+ people on the top deck for a stellar wine tasting and then put on a burlesque show in its lower decks, replete with a dozen and more costume changes.

Inter Rhône, the regional wine board, is who organized the event and provided the wines for tasting.  The Rhône valley has many famous wine appellations of course, such as Chateauneuf du Pape, Hermitage and Vacqueyras but for this evening's tasting we had the privilege of discovering many outstanding gems with the Côte du Rhône Villages label.

It's a good thing the wines were so memorable given the spectacular distractions of the magnificent cathedral as backdrop and then the over the top and barrels of fun Burlesque show we were treated to.
